Adjudicator's comments

We enjoyed our day in Downton as the training band returned for another visit to the Wessex Youth and Training Band contest. We were pleased with our performance of a varied programme that was not easy.

We started our programme with the well known march Slaidburn, and then played the hymn Abide with Me, featuring a cornet duet from Lisa Duke and Lynette Baskett. This was followed by Mel Palmer playing a Bb bass solo in Nelly the Elephant. We finished our set with Indiana Jones, Run, and a rousing finale in 42nd Street. The adjudicators remarks were very positive.

We had a great day and celebrated in the evening with curry back in Ashurst. Well done all training band members for your performance and all the hard work beforehand, and thank you to all training band helpers.
