Second place at the Wessex winter contest!

1 December 2012 NFB played at the Wessex Winter Contest in Weymouth on Saturday. In our final contest as a fourth section band before promotion next year, we played Diamond Heritage by Darrol Barry and came in second place. We also finished 11th in the overall standings, beating three bands with higher national gradings. A decent result! Looking forward to next year.

In Hythe on Saturday, we performed a short concert on the waterside, although unfortunately it was cut short by the rain. The weather was much better on Monday, when we entertained a large crowd at Hatch Grange, West End, who had gathered to watch one of the Jubilee Beacons being lit.

11 March 2012 New Forest Brass will be playing in the third section at next year's West of England championships! After being handed the number 1 draw, we had an early start. Our performance of the English Folk Song Suite, by Ralph Vaughan Williams, was awarded 10th place out of 25 bands. While not as high as we had hoped, we have the best 3-year aggregate score in the 4th section, so will be promoted for next year. Well done NFB!
