New Forest Brass Training Ensemble meets at Hounsdown School on Tuesdays from 6.30-7.30pm. The Training Ensemble was formed in 2012 with the aim of encouraging more people to take up brass playing as a hobby, recognising the cutbacks in school music tuition in recent decades.
The Training Ensemble provides low cost brass instrument coaching for beginners and a friendly environment for brass players to learn to play with others in a small group for the first time. Many players who started as complete beginners with our Training Ensemble have since progressed to our Community Band or other local ensembles.
New players are always welcome, including both complete beginners and those who can play a little already. No prior brass or music experience is needed. It is also not necessary to own an instrument. The band has instruments (including cornet, tenor horn, flugelhorn, baritone, euphonium, trombone and Eb bass) available for loan to members, so that those who may not be able to afford an instrument are able to start playing at low cost and enjoy the social and mental health benefits of making music with others.
If you are interested in finding out more about the Training Ensemble or would like to come along to one of our rehearsals to see what we do, then please contact us.
