A good performance from the fast-improving training band at the Wessex Training Band Festival in Downton. Our programme started with the march Fraternity, followed by Highland Cathedral, for which Rose and Helen were awarded Best Instrumentalists prize for their cornet duet. We then played the Madness song, 'It Must Be Love', followed by 2 verses of the hymn Eventide and, as a grand finale, the Prelude from the 4th section test piece 'Prelude, Song and Dance' by John Golland. Despite a good performance, we were not in the top two placings announced by the adjudicator. Nevertheless, we had a great day and celebrated in the evening with curry back in Ashurst. Well done all training band members for your performance and all the hard work beforehand, and thank you to all training band helpers.
